Last week they went kayaking, hopefully we’ll get them going towards gaining there 1 star award.

The Beavers  had the local Police Community Support Officer visit recently. The Beavers got to try on his Police hats and jacket, they got to go in the Police car and turn the syrens on.

Last night the Monday Beaver colony visited the Lifeboat Station in Bude. Our newest Beaver Leader got all booted up in the Lifeboat crews gear. It was a very good evening.

On the 14th we had our group centenary party. The scouts were entertained by Mr Showers, they had hot dogs and decorated buns which we put together to make the number 100 to go infront of us in our group picture. The winners from the centenary badge design got awarded with prizes. There was a great turn out from the kids with nearly all the group there, about 120.

Saturday was the Cubs raft race on the Canal. I went down ans helped out a little in the morning with making a raft and in the afternoon they raced them across the canal. One raft wasn’t going anywhere as it was too unstable, the kids got on and would come straight off into the water. They all had fun and got to jump in at the end, why they would want to i don’t know cus the water looks disgusting!

On Sunday it was the Beavers football tournement. There was one team from each of our local groups. Our team and Jacobstows both scored a goal in the last game so both teams will share the shield this year. Our Beavers did fantasticly.

This weekend i’ve got an Explorer camp at Nineashes and were bag packing at the local supermarket to get some more money for Kandersteg. Where nearly there with our fundraising, with the next too bag packs we should just about reach our target of £7000.

Ive recently finished making the groups new website which is looking pretty sweet. We had problems with the old one so had to start from scratch so i was asked to take over the job. The new website can be found here http://budescouts.giving.officelive.com/

Satruday it all ran from 10-5. We didn’t have huge amounts of people come along but we did get a lot of interest for kids to join so its looks like our sections might grow a bit soon

Some of us had great fun learning to balloon model and i tried my hand at face painting. having never done it before i impressed myself with how well i did it

Sunday we had quite a bit more people come through the doors. As well as displays of old pictures and things we had displays made by the sections of what we do in scouting now. There were also activities for the kids and parents to try, badge making, junk boat making, knot boards, membership logo meaning, quiz, treasure hunt, circus skills, mock up camp, tea and cake and face painting. There was also a guy there with working lego models.

I think the kids enjoyed the lego and circus skills the best

Today, Monday, we had a really good turn out. My face painting was in more demand im getting good at it now;) we cut up the amazing looking cake we had made for us, me and my sister won the treasure hunt for our age groups, quite chuffed with that cus i never win anything. The dinning shelter in the mock up camp was sweet as a nut, we gotta get the explorers making them

Was kinda sad when we had to pack up cus it’d been such a great weekend showing off what us scouts do.

My month is still pretty busy with scouts. Next weekend is the beaver football tournement and the scouts incident hike, ive got a camp the weekend after and two weeks later is the beaver sleepover. Tommorrow night with the explorers were making flintstone cars, the beavers this week are having a visit from the PCSO, next week the explorers are canoeing and on the friday were having a big birthday party for all the sections which should be sweet!

I think now i shall go and try and wash the rest of this face paint off and head to bed because i am exhasuted!!

On Saturday we had a jumble at the hut to make a bit o money for our birthday celebrations. We made £147 which aint bad at all!!

Tonight at Beavers we carried on with our collage of a Beaver scout for the exhibition. Its all coming together nicely now, just some stuff to finish off on Thursday with the other Beavers. Monday colony seems to be growing even more now, there were quite a lot of them there tonight! We must be doing something right!

Am looking forward to our open weekend this weekend for our centenary. Off to a meeting on Wednesday with some of the leaders to sort out everything for it.

It was our first evening back to explorers last night, we managed to nearly complete our piece for our exhibition next weekend

We’ve got a jumble this Saturday to make a bit of money for our centenary celebrations and on Sunday we’ve got our St Georges Day Parade in Bodmin.

I did the Coast 2 Coast challenge with 2 of my Explorers and our Explorer leader.  It was my fifth time doing the challenge and our fourth year dressing up.  Pirate was my choice this year

We camped at Nineashes on Friday, was blooding freezing and i hardly slept at all   Saturday morning was freezing, our tents were covered in ice!! After breakfast we went to the start point, Par, from there we walked 22 miles back to Nineashes.  Mother went and bought me some extra socks and blankets whilst i was walking, so Saturday night i was a little warmer until the early hours of the morning when it got freezing again!!! Woke up to ice covered tents again! After breakfast we left the campsite and headed off to Port Issac.

Weather was awesome all weekend during the day.  Really sunny and hardly no cloud, but i forgot to put on suncream on Saturday and am rarther burnt oooops!

We managed to do the 34 miles in 11 hours and 25 minutes, beating all our previous years times by several hours!!!!  Was my favourite walk so far   Am very tired now and my muscles ache from the lack of moving i’ve done since getting home.  I’m looking forward to next years walk

We took Thursday group beavers as a special treat to celebrate our 100th birthday!!

After we all arrived we headed on down to the castle.  We took a walk into Merlins cave, skimmed stones on the sea then headed up the hundreds of steps to the island where the main castle was.  The cliffs were very steep and it’s a mircale we came back with all the Beavers!  The weather was fantastic and we could see all the way up the coast to Bude!!  There were a lot of emmits at the castle and it was a very pretty place.  Will defo have to go back some time, minus the Beavers!

We then headed back to the village where we stopped for an ice cream before going to Arthurs Great hall.  Unfortuently we upset the man who runs the halls because the Beavers were a little loud, but when you put 6-8 year olds in a big empty hall what do you expect! specially as 2 of the leaders were running around with them playing hide and seek! The Beavers really enjoyed themselves so thats all that matters!

We then went to the Old Post Office where the Beavers were split into two groups to do a quiz around the Post office.  It’s run by the National Trust and they gave us stickers and Easter eggs for the Beavers

It was then back to the hall where the Beavers made lanterns and wands.  They all made pizza’s for their tea and we played some games. 

Just as it was getting dark we went for a walk upto the church and then along the cliffs where we set off some Chinese lanterns. 

The Beavers mostly slept well as they were pretty tired after the days events.

This morning after breakfast they went for a little walk through the village, played some games then it was home time.  They all got a sleepover badge and one got a Bear Grylls dvd for being the best behaved.

Once they’d all gone i then went on to Boscastle for a walk and look around before heading  home

I’m meeting up with our beaver leader tonight to go through some things for the sleepover this weekend.  Am really looking forward to the sleepover!

This month has been really great for fundraising for the trip, we’ve made nearly £3000!!!

Last Saturday i went to the Outdoor show, highlight of my year so far happened, i met James Cracknell!! I saw James and Ben Fogle doing their talk, then when i stopped for lunch James walked past, so i chased after him to sign my Race To The Pole book of his Also saw Simon King the animal documentry film maker.  Unfortuently i didn’t find any solar panels for my camera so will have to have a search on the internet.

On the Sunday i went to the letterbox meet with some leaders to sell our latest walk in aid of our trip, rather boring day but we did make just over £200.

This week we break up for easter.  The Explorers had an Easter evening on Tuesday making choc nests, egg hunt and obstacle egg and spoon raceing.  The Beavers tonight are wall climbing and 6 Beavers are swimming up to Cubs so our Thursday group is going to be quiet for a while.
